In 2008, someone was killed or injured every 1.8 hours in an alcohol-related crash. Of 2008 alcohol-related traffic crashes in Missouri, 32 percent of the fatalities and 42 percent of the injuries occurred to some other party involved in the crash -- not the drinking driver or pedestrian. Nationally, in 2007, nearly 13,000 people were killed in highway crashes involving a driver or motorcycle operator with an illegal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher.
