Driving while intoxicated is one of the most common violent crimes, randomly killing or injuring someone in Missouri every one and one-half hours. These tragedies are preventable when drivers make a simple, smart choice not to drink and drive.
This holiday season, Missouri encourages motorists to drive sober and arrive alive. Radio ads will run Nov. 19 - Dec. 16, 2007 portraying some of the sobering consequences of drinking and driving.

Missouri State Highway Patrol
The Highway Patrol is available to give presentations to schools and other groups regarding safe driving. Available resources are "it's My Life" and "Stop the Knock" video, Rollover Simulator and the Convincer. All of these resources can make a big impact on teens.
"It's My Life"
This video is directed toward high school students about safe driving. Must be accompanied by a Missouri State Highway Patrolman. About 30 minutes needs to be allowed for the program. The video is graphic, but depicts real-life crashes that have resulted in the deaths of people not wearing their seat belts and offers testimonals from family and friends of those who have died.
"Stop the Knock"
This video refers to the job of notifying the next of kin when a person has died in a car accident.
"Can You be convinced to wear your seat belt?"
Take a ride on this new piece of equipment from the highway patrol, and we believe you will be convinced.....! The seat belt convincer will send you cruising to 5 mph and simulates a crash at that speed. It's thrilling , yes, but only for a few seconds. Then you can think about the outcome if you were in a vehicle without a seat belt.
