NEW HIGH SCHOOL SEAT BELT CHALLENGE IN THE NORTHWEST

For several year, high schools across the state have participated in a six-week program to raise seatbelt use at their schools. But we know seatbelt use is not the only traffic safety issue high school students face. A new program is being introduced this year that has a broader scope, but still incorporates elements from our previous seat belt challenge contest.

It Only Takes One is the new program that will last through a good portion of the school year. The program still incorporates seat belt checks, but the education programs extend through the school year. Students will also be asked to address subjects such as distracted driving, impaired driving and other traffic safety issues. Prizes will be awarded based on the quality of the education program presented at your school. And like the previous program, there is also a Public Service Announcement competition.
