2024 Tempe Humphrey Award Winner
Tyler Lueckenhoff

Tyler is the upfront/emcee and a workshop presenter for the youth program, TRACTION - Teens Taking Action to Prevent Traffic Crashes.
TRACTION is a youth traffic safety leadership training program that has been successful in Missouri the past 30 years and has saved the lives of thousands of people on Missouri’s roadways. TRACTION empowers youth to take an active role in promoting safe driving habits and making positive change within their schools and communities. TRACTION provides teens with the tools necessary to create an action plan on how they will successfully implement projects and activities to make their schools and communities a safer place to live and travel.
Tyler is originally from Jefferson City, MO, and first came through the TRACTION program as a participant his sophomore year of high school in 2004 with Blair Oaks High School. Prior to coming to TRACTION as a student, Tyler lost several friends and classmates to preventable car crashes and wanted to flip the dynamic and save lives in his community. Immediately following his first TRACTION conference, at just 15 years old, he became a leader and role model as a TRACTION staff member and has been on staff for the last 20 years. Tyler now lives in Atchison, KS and is the District Activities/Athletic Director for Atchison Public Schools. He continues to come back to Missouri several times a year to spread the highway safety message to any audience that will listen, including teens at the TRACTION conferences, law enforcement agencies, health organizations, and has been the keynote speaker for the Highway Safety Conference and LETSAC Conference. His dedication to TRACTION, highway safety, and saving lives in Missouri is to be commended.
Tyler is a true leader and fantastic role model inside and outside of TRACTION. While at TRACTION, Tyler speaks to teens about the importance of stepping out of their comfort zone and how to become successful highway safety leaders and ambassadors within their school and communities. Tyler has educated thousands of teens over the past 20 years and his passion for highway safety in Missouri is unmatched. Tyler doesn’t continue to do the work he does for praise or recognition; he truly just wants to save lives and keep the people in Missouri safe from senseless and preventable car crashes.
